Futian port intercepted 600 kg fresh areca
From the official website of the Shenzhen entry exit inspection and Quarantine Bureau was informed that, in July 12th, Huanggang inspection and Quarantine Bureau staff in Futian port from 6 inbound passenger luggage intercepted from Thailand areca fresh fruit, a total of 30 bags of 600 pounds. Interception of such a large number of areca is the first time in Futian port. Inspection and quarantine personnel in accordance with the provisions of the interception and destruction.
According to the "People's Republic of China prohibited, mailed animal and plant products and other quarantine objects directory" provisions, areca and its products both edible or planting, are prohibited from entering the country to carry the goods. Areca originated in Malaysia, mainly in Southeast Asia, tropical Asia, East Africa and parts of Europe, is the import quarantine pest of fruit flies and areca host, once a passenger carrying material or other carrier into and large-scale breeding, production may be on China's agricultural industry and the harm to the ecological environment.
